Diagnostic Feedback in Clinical Registries
Diagnostic Feedback in Clinical Registries is a competitive grant program that provides frontline clinicians with feedback on their diagnostic performance through clinical registries.
CMSS provides 12 months of direct financial assistance to member specialty societies to help develop scalable demonstration projects of diagnostic performance feedback. Proposals were reviewed by an external advisory committee comprised of a diverse group of national experts in diagnostic performance, informatics, quality improvement and research.
Together with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), CMSS has awarded seven specialty societies grants of $100,000 each. In 2025, several societies will be awarded implementation grants to build upon their work.

Closing the diagnostic feedback loop is critical to improving physician performance and patient outcomes. Diagnostic Feedback in Clinical Registries planning grants provide valuable financial support to member societies interested in improving diagnostic feedback through their clinical data registries. These awards are part of CMSS’s commitment to address emerging issues that affect specialty societies and to help channel member contributions that advance healthcare.
