Governance and Leadership Excellence Across Medicine

The CMSS Governance and Leadership Excellence Across Medicine (GLEAM) Program equips medical society leaders with the tools and connections they need to thrive in their leadership roles.

Through high-level, interactive programming and real-world examples developed specifically for specialty societies, GLEAM illuminates leading governance practices and cultivates leadership, increases collaboration, and builds intersectional relationships across the medical community.

Together with peers from across societies and CMSS faculty partners, GLEAM participants engage in six months of expertly designed learning opportunities. The program runs from May–November each year.

New and redesigned content and learning experiences include:

  • Self-paced video and audio modules to incorporate leading governance practices and encourage board engagement
  • Virtual Leading Practices & Case-Based Learning Sessions to connect with peers and explore a range of governance issues and best practices
  • In-Person GLEAM Summit to dive deep into strategic governance and leadership issues and build relationships with peers
  • Additional optional resources, tools, and office hours with GLEAM faculty that support societies in addressing complex governance challenges

Audience:

GLEAM is designed for CMSS Member Societies and other medical specialty societies who join as teams of 3 or more participants, including:

  • CEO/executive director (required)
  • Board chair/president
  • Board president-elect
